About

Column

Stonehedge Horticultural Alliance's growth and success are attributed to its founders' vision and community support. Established in 2010, Stonehedge Nursery met the Priceville-Decatur area's demand for a comprehensive retail garden center. As our clients desired more than just a retail space, Stonehedge Landworks was founded to offer the professional installation and maintenance they required. By 2015, expanding communities necessitated relocating to a larger facility, allowing Stonehedge to enhance its divisions and collaborate with local outdoor environment experts, leading to the formation of Stonehedge Horticultural Alliance—your source for premier outdoor environment specialists in our community.

Owner, Matt Pilkington, boasts 30 years of experience in the horticulture industry, including retail, high-end residential, commercial installation and maintenance, with specializations in irrigation, hardscapes, water features, and arboriculture. In addition to his extensive experience, Matt holds a degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Auburn University, class of 2001, and is a Nationally Certified Landscape Professional — a distinction held by fewer than 1,000 people nationwide. Matt continually enhances his expertise through specialty certifications, ongoing education, and state licensing. He also actively contributes to the growth of the horticulture industry through roles at ALNLA Board of Directors and other committees. Together with his wife, colleague, and fellow Auburn graduate, Kyla Pilkington, Matt aims to foster a family-oriented atmosphere for both employees and clients. Bobby is licensed by the State of Alabama as an SLP, is a certified expert in hardscape installation, and possesses extensive knowledge in the green industry. He plays a crucial role in the daily operations of Stonehedge. His commitment to responsibility is a cornerstone of our company's success. OPERATIONS

Column

Stonehedge Horticultural Alliance remains engaged year-round in various industry facets. Explore seasonal insights below.

January - February

Our team will be back shortly after the New Year to start preparing for spring. Stonehedge Installation and Maintenance divisions will keep up with their current schedules, while Stonehedge Nursery focuses on spring planning, organizing, and upgrading our location as needed. Now is the perfect time to book an appointment for your spring project!

March - Mother's Day

Weather dictates the arrival of our initial shipment of spring seasonal plants. Stonehedge Nursery is stocked with fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides to help you tackle the season's pests early. Our suppliers will also deliver early-season vegetables and ferns, with the first shrub trucks arriving soon. Once the risk of frost diminishes, you'll discover a wide array of seasonal plants, including begonias, vinca, impatiens, coleus, lantana, and petunias, among others.

Hanging baskets with this season's best sellers and large mixed arrangements make perfect Mother's Day gifts.

As peak season arrives, installation crews operate at full capacity, and maintenance teams start weekly visits for our regular maintenance clients. This includes installing spring seasonal colors and adding mulching to maintenance packages. During this time, irrigation system checks and startups are planned.

September - November

Before the first hint of chill in the air, Stonehedge begins their fall decorations. Stonehedge Nursery offers a variety of autumnal colors, including mums, pansies, violas, cabbage, kale, and mustard. Fall is ideal for planting! During this season, installation teams concentrate on planting, while maintenance crews start leaf debris removal, fall seasonal color rotation, and mulching additions to their maintenance packages.

Thanksgiving - December 24th

During Thanksgiving week, the nursery is filled with the aroma of fresh Fraser fir. With our friendly staff dedicated to sharing the season's joys at our facilities, visiting Stonehedge for Christmas wreaths, garlands, and the ideal tree becomes an unforgettable experience for the entire family.

As winter nears, clients are strongly encouraged to schedule irrigation shut downs.
