Topdressing can be applied during the growing season as frequently as every 6-8 weeks. It's essential to allow time for the grass to grow and root through the layer of topdressing soil. Introducing too much soil per application can smother the turf. Generally, topdressing is spread to a depth of around a quarter inch per application.
